Each year, the Women of Distinction Ceremony brings the community together to honor women from throughout the region who, through their volunteerism and other efforts, set an example for future generations to emulate. Finalists are selected by a panel of previous Women of Distinction honorees.

The ceremony continues a legislative tradition that began in 1987 that includes recognitions of women’s accomplishments by both the Senate and Assembly. It is also an opportunity to discuss legislative and public policy issues.

For 2017, Shelley Burnach of San Bernardino has been selected as the 23rd Senate District Woman of the Year. Shelley is widely regarded as a woman that tirelessly works to better the lives of all residents in San Bernardino County. She is actively involved in and serves on numerous nonprofit boards including Friends of Santa Claus Inc., the St. Bernardine Medical Center Foundation, and the Women of Dignity Health to name a few.

This year’s event will be held on Friday, November 3, at the Goldy S. Lewis Community Center located in Rancho Cucamonga’s Central Park (11200 Baseline Rd., 91730). Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
